How to Stage Your Home for Selling During the Holidays
Christmas
is a time for parties, get-togethers and all festivities there is. However,
this does not mean that the real estate market will be going on a holiday. There
are still a few brave house hunters who will be looking out for property to buy
even during the holiday season. This might also be a great idea for you to know
how to stage your home for selling during the holidays.
To
some, holidays can be a personal thing. Of course, you do not expect that your
buyer will have the same way on how you celebrate the season. You may want to
be neutral to accommodate each and every potential buyer that will walk through
your home.
Here
are some tips that you can do in order to get buyers in the right spirit:
Keep
it clean – your house needs to be cleaned before you throw in some decoration.
Otherwise, it would look rather over crowded. Making sure that your home does
not have any too much clutter and keeping it at a minimal would promote larger
space for any room.
Create
a cozy atmosphere – relative to the first tip, less means more. This does not
mean that you should skip decorating for the holiday season. Adding a few
subtle touches such as a bowl of pine cones or a pot of cider simmering on the
stove can create a warm and festive feeling inside your home.
Complement
with your theme – make sure that your holiday décor complements your palette. This
way you can also avoid any eye sore with contrasting colors. If a room in your
home is painted with bold colors, you can tone it down by adding decors of
white snowflakes or silver glass-ball wreath. On the other hand, if you have an
earthy color scheme add an accent using gold and cranberries.
Accentuate
– create a room that will enable buyers to appreciate a breathtaking view from
your living room window so avoid putting any décor that can deter them from
that. Use accessories that can draw attention to the best features of your
home. Avoid overcrowding your chimney by filling it with large stockings so
that buyers will be able to appreciate them.
Simple
lighting – use simple string lighting for your light display instead of big
ones, while other people would find it that you are in the mood for Christmas –
others might see that as tacky.
Christmas
tree décor – a tall tree can be a great way to accentuate your two story home,
but make sure to keep it less on the base to promote large space visually. This
is also helpful if you have a small room as you can be able to save space. Eliminate
eye sore by decorating your tree that corresponds with your theme.
Declutter
- every home have their own tradition on how to decorate for the holidays,
however, this might not be the year to follow your tradition to make it less
personal and allow any potential buyer to visualize themselves into your home
by keeping it neutral. You never know that you might be spending your holidays
next year in your new home and you can decorate it any way you want.
Hope
that these simple tips on how to stage your home for selling during the
holidays may find it useful for you to help you sell your home quickly. I also hope that you have a meaningful holiday this time if the year.
